Interstate Resources News homepage: http://news.interstateresources.com

Eco-friendly wax-alternative fresh produce packaging manufacturer exhibits at Southeast (SE) Regional Fruit & Vegetable Conference 2012.

Interstate Container displayed compostable, FBA-certified 100% recyclable and repulpable GREENCOAT® wax-free boxes at Booth # 226 – 228 during SE Regional Fruit & Vegetable Conference 2012. The annual conference took place from January 5 – 8, 2012 in Savannah, Georgia.

Booth visitors learned more about GREENCOAT® packaging solutions and met with Interstate Container Cambridge, MD and Columbia, SC representatives. Furthermore, the eco-friendly corrugated packaging manufacturer demonstrated the various uses of GREENCOAT® fresh produce packaging.

Jeff Cormier, Interstate Container National Sales & Marketing Manager, states,

“We are very excited to have exhibited GREENCOAT® at SE Regional Produce Show. The event reaches key large farms in Georgia and the Carolinas for which our new Columbia plant is perfectly positioned to service. Farm owners were surprised and impressed with what GREENCOAT® could do for them, with particular interest in peaches, cabbage, peppers, squash, and cucumbers.

With successful trials completed we are looking forward to converting farmers from wax-coated to GREENCOAT® boxes, giving them and their customers a more sustainable footprint without sacrificing quality, machine gluability, or profitability.”

SE Regional Fruit & Vegetable Conference 2012 gathered thousands of fresh produce growers, packers, vendors and suppliers. The annual educational conference discussed how to improve crop production and grow business, food safety, marketing strategies, as well as production practices and increased yields.

GREENCOAT® Corrugated Boxes

Interstate Container Cambridge team developed GREENCOAT® packaging solution for transporting products that require durable moisture-resistant corrugated packaging. Mountaire Farms, Delaware-based poultry processing company, successfully trialed the environmentally friendly wax-free corrugated box that packs fresh produce, floral, poultry, meat, and seafood products.

Interstate Container to Showcase GREENCOAT® Wax-Free Packaging at International Poultry Expo 2012

Interstate Resources News homepage: http://news.interstateresources.com

GREENCOAT® wax-replacement corrugated boxes withstand shifts from cold-to-hot environmental conditions, exposure to moisture, rough handling, long storage and transportation.

Interstate Container plants in Cambridge, MD and Columbia, SC will display GREENCOAT®  wax-replacement boxes at Booth # 5069 in the world’s largest poultry and egg exhibition, International Poultry Expo 2012. The annual event will take place from January 24 – 26, 2012 at Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia.

Poultry processors and packers attending the International Poultry Expo 2012 can meet Interstate Container representatives. Booth visitors can also learn more about environmentally-friendly GREENCOAT® boxes used for the transport of fresh and frozen chicken and other poultry products.

Pete Bugas, Interstate Container Cambridge General Manager, and John Cristos, Interstate Container Columbia Site Manager, will be present at the event along with other Interstate Container representatives including:

Jeff Cormier
National Sales & Marketing Manager

Mark Buff
Business Development Manager

Scott Caldwell
New Business Development Manager

Anne Potterton
Sales Account Manager

Elyse Cristos
Account Representative

Pete Bugas, Interstate Container Cambridge General Manager, explains,

“Our innovative GREENCOAT® product line has revolutionized poultry packaging. Its strength properties in very wet conditions are what make it the one of the best wax replacement boxes in the industry. Each month over 3 million GREENCOAT® poultry packaging boxes are shipped throughout the United States to customers who can now recycle their package instead of throwing away the older style wax box. IPE 2012 is the ideal event to show the entire poultry industry that options and innovation is available to them.”

About GREENCOAT® Wax-Free Corrugated Boxes

GREENCOAT® boxes pack poultry, meat, seafood, floral and fresh fruit and vegetable produce, as well as all products that require durable moisture-resistant corrugated packaging. The compostable FBA-certified corrugated box is 100% recyclable and repulpable. GREENCOAT® boxes are easier to glue and provide the same strength as traditional waxed boxes.

Interstate Container plants account for 100% of the GREENCOAT® wax replacement boxes manufacturing process. The corrugated packaging manufacturers do not outsource to 3rd parties, which contributes to cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, by using GREENCOAT® boxes, landfill disposal fees are cut and customers benefit from disposal cost savings. Typical landfill costs (tipping fees & pull) range from $65-$125 / ton.

Jeff Cormier, Interstate Container National Sales & Marketing Manager, states,

“GREENCOAT® is an amazing product that surprises even its harshest critics. In 2011 Interstate Container conducted several large scale GREENCOAT® trials with a 100% success rate in poultry packaging, and now ship over 3 million boxes per month. GREENCOAT® wax-free boxes can get extremely wet and offer the same strength characteristics of the widely used curtain-coated boxes.

This is important, as many poultry companies ship products across the entire United States. IPE 2012 provides us with a great opportunity to meet all of the key players in the poultry industry. We can show them that the wax-replacement box that they are looking for really does exist. We don’t believe that buyers will find better alternative to GREENCOAT®, environmentally, structurally, or financially.”

Interstate Container invested 5 years of R&D to develop GREENCOAT® boxes. The manufacturer worked together with leading poultry processor, Mountaire Farms, to successfully trial the sustainable wax-alternative packaging. Two of the largest poultry plants in the US have converted completely to GREENCOAT®. Interstate Container ships 3,200,000 GREENCOAT® wax alternative boxes/month.

PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 Opens Doors to New Markets for GREENCOAT®

Interstate Resources News homepage: http://news.interstateresources.com

Interstate Container Cambridge representatives attended PACK EXPO 2011, international exhibition for packaging and processing machinery, components, materials, containers and converting machinery.

Interstate Container Cambridge representatives, Jeff Cormier, Sales and Marketing Manager, and Frank Biskach, Technical Service Representative, attended PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 to allocate new and innovative packaging machinery for customers. The international exhibition took place at Las Vegas Convention Center, in Las Vegas, USA, from 26-28 September 2011.

The corrugated packaging manufacturer looked at machines, such as baggers, stretch wrap machines, and robotics that would help customers reduce poultry plant labor. The show also provided representatives the opportunity to explore new ideas and services that Interstate Container Cambridge could offer customers, as well as meet with current and potential vendors.

ADCO, manufacturer of packaging machinery/systems and vendor to Interstate Container Cambridge, occupied a booth at the event and offered the corrugated packaging manufacturer the opportunity to set up a small GREENCOAT® display. Furthermore, ADCO exhibited a new tray-former machine running GREENCOAT® boxes that Interstate Container Cambridge had supplied.

The corrugated display demonstrated GREENCOAT®’s strength and durability with the eco-friendly corrugated box holding 5 inches of water without leaking. GREENCOAT® is an innovative recyclable, repulpable and compostable wax-replacement corrugated box for packing bulk poultry, meat, seafood, and fresh produce, as well as floral packaging.

The small display was well-received in an event setting unrelated to the usual target sectors. PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 provided Interstate Container Cambridge the opportunity to target new markets for GREENCOAT®, attracting prospects from all over the world interested in GREENCOAT® for packaging fertilizer, plants, paving stones, and produce.  Visitors were looking for a corrugated box that could withstand exposure to certain elements at big box retailers like Home Depot and Lowe’s.

Jeff Cormier, Interstate Container Cambridge Sales and Marketing Manager, explained,

“ADCO offered us the opportunity to put a small corrugated display in their booth as a thank you for buying their machine.  Ed Fish, our designer, created the display and sent it out to Las Vegas along with our standard GREENCOAT® flyers.  By noon on day 1 of the show (26 September 2011), we were called to the booth to replenish flyers and talk to several prospects that visited the stand.

Booth visitors were amazed by the fact that our box had 5 inches of standing water in it and was not leaking.  Because this was not a poultry show, like we are used to, the products the people wanted to pack were items like fertilizer, plants, paving stones, and produce.  Having a display at PACK EXPO was an unexpected success to get GREENCOAT® exposure in a non-poultry setting.”

PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2011 exhibition encompassed a show floor of 600,000 net square feet. The event brought together international professionals and exhibitors of innovative technology for 40 vertical markets, as well as providers of total system solutions including processing equipment, operations software, packaging machinery, converting machinery, materials and containers. Furthermore, attendees of the 3-day event learned about the latest advances in secure packaging, printing and graphics, and instrumentation. [1]
